AMPP CERTIFICATIONS

PRT staff hold a range of AMPP certifications, including AMPP-certified Coatings Inspectors (CIP) and AMPP QP1, QP2, and QP3 contractor accreditations. Our team also maintains personal credentials such as Quality Control Supervision and Competent Person Lead Training.

About AMPP

AMPP (the Association for Materials Protection and Performance) is the leading global authority on corrosion control and protective coatings, covering surface preparation, coating application, inspection, and safety for steel, concrete, and marine structures. It was formed when The Society for Protective Coatings (SSPC) and NACE International merged into a single organization, bringing together both groups’ certification programs, standards, and workforce credentialing under one body.

Certifications

AMPP offers a wide range of certifications for corrosion and protective-coatings professionals. Two of the most widely recognized are:

  • Coatings Inspector Program (CIP) — A leading standard that validates an inspector’s knowledge and hands-on experience.
  • Contractor Accreditation (QP1, QP2, QP3) — Company-level accreditations verifying a contractor’s capability, quality management, and safe work practices.

What the QP accreditations mean

  • QP 1 — Contractor accreditation verifying an industrial painting contractor’s capability and quality management.
  • QP 2 — Builds on QP 1 with additional requirements for safe, controlled removal of hazardous coatings in the field.
